Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from RatCat and friends! The FPM is wearing a nice Christmas outfit and RatCat is checking out what it's like to be a Christmas ornament.

Happy holidays everyone and until next time! =o,,o=

Animated RatCat!

This week I tried my hand at animation. I'd never done any animation before and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. It's not much, but it's still an animation! Without further ado I present to you the very first animated RatCat:

After this blinking RatCat I decided to see if I could make the Fairy Princess Mammoth go for a walk.

Both animation can be found on the new RatCat and Friends Youtube channel!

Do you like the animation I made? Want more? What should I try to make?

Until next time! =o,,o=

Cool

When I asked my brother what he wanted for his birthday he said: "Something cool from RatCat". This is the result:

Everybody's wearing sunglasses, because that's cool. We have some cool jackets, and of course a jetpack.

What do you think of their coolness? Who is the coolest?

Halloween time!

It's time for some Halloween outfits!

Let's start with RatCat who decided to dress like a mummy:

I'm not sure if he's trying to scare someone or if he's trying to untangle himself and panicking...

The Fairy Princess Mammoth wanted to try something a little different (different for him, so pretty standard I guess, lol). He's the monster of Frankenstein!
He looks a little bored...maybe next time he should dress up as Fairy Frankenstein?

Finally we have Lucy von Fledermaus as a witch:

You'd expect a black cat, but they're not called the colorful litter of kittens for no reason. There's no black one...So Lucy decided on this pumpkin colored one.

Who's costume do you like best?

Until next time!

Which team are YOU on?

Thor 2 the Dark World will premier today so I decided to check out on which team everybody is. Thor or Loki?

Let's start with the two that decided they aren't on either team Thor or team Loki:

The Big Fat Friendly Butterfly (aka the BFFB) has a little thing for Thor's love interest, Jane Foster.

The minion decided to go for Odin. I think it has to do with Odin's eye patch and minion's own eye issue. Although minion's eye "patch" is super cool and gives him awesome ways to look at the world, he's still a little insecure how it makes him look and seeing a character rocking it on the big screen with only one eye makes him feel better. I'm not here to judge.

Next up are the Thor supporters.

RatCat didn't have a lot of time to come up with an outfit to show his support, but he managed to make a "Team Thor" flag and draw two "T"'s on his face. Go THOR!
The Fairy Princess Mammoth is clearly rooting for Thor to be awesome. He also clearly had more time to create an outfit (or maybe he just cares more). I think he looks fabulous.

Finally we have the Loki supporters. As a group they seem to have put the most effort into their outfits.

First up is Evil Space RatCat. He's wearing an awesome green cape as well as a custom made belt-buckle. He looks pretty pleased with himself, doesn't he?

Next we have Count Slugula. I thought he wouldn't be up for this, but it turns out he kind of likes superhero movies and stuff. Who would have thought. Since he can't hold up a flag, because of the lack of hands, he got a banner.

Last, but definitely not least is Lucy von Fledermaus. She's team Loki all the way and she takes it way serious!

What did you think of all the outfits? If this were a contest who would win? My bet is on either Lucy or Fairy P. Mammoth.

Likes, comments, follows, and shares are much appreciated!

Untill next time! =o,,o=

Introducing: the minion

Evil Space RatCat's minion that is. He's a mutated dust bunny that was an non-mutated dust bunny in Space RC's laboratory when one day an experimental substance accidentally fell on him causing him to mutate.

Because he didn't really know what to do with his knew found awareness of being alive (he didn't really experience any consciousness before he was mutated, he was only a dust bunny after all), he just followed Evil Space RC around. Evilly pretends to be uncaring and evil and grumpy, but I know he cares. I found this picture of the two of them:
What do you think of the minion?

Until next time!

CaveRatCat

Also known as the prehistoric RatCat:

As you can see the CaveRatCat has much larger teeth and a bushier tail than the modern day RatCat. He also has a weird forehead. It is very well possible that the prehistoric RC lived in harmony with mammoths, but I'm still studying rock paintings. Since the CaveRatCat is a recent discovery there is not much more to tell at this point.

Until next time!

RatCat and the Fairy Princess Mammoth: How they met.

Here it is, finally: the story of the first ever meeting between RatCat and the Fairy Princess Mammoth. It's a bit sappy maybe, but two unloved creatures finding each other and forming a friendship based on acceptance and love can't be anything but at least a little sappy! I hope you enjoy:

It all started when the Fairy Princess Mammoth was running away from some bullies:
"the Fairy Princess Mammoth was running away from bullies who'd made fun of his awesome outfit"
"He sat down in an alley to wipe away his tears, unaware of the little creature that lived in said alley"

"RatCat, who hadn't always been treated nicely himself, stared at this tutu wearing Mammoth that had just sat down in his alley. The Fairy Princess Mammoth, finally noticing RatCat, was startled by his presence"
"Princess Mammoth stared at RatCat in a socially awkward manner as he began to smile. RatCat had an idea."

"RatCat climbed the ladder as the Fairy Princess Mammoth followed him with his eyes, unsure what would happen"
"Out he pulled a shiny tiara!"
"Overwhelmed with feelings of acceptance he held RatCat in his trunk and cried a few happy tears. RatCat felt happy too. He'd never gotten a hug before (kittens sleeping on your head doesn't really count as a hug)."

So there you have it. The story of how these two met. The FPM started visiting RatCat more and more after they met. He also became very close with the litter of colorful kittens, who liked sleeping on him. It will be a little while before they meet Lucy von Fledermaus.

Let me know what you thought. Until next time!

RatCat Viking and Moose

A long time ago Vikings did their thing. Roaming around, exploring, pillaging, and making awesome boats. While there is no archaeological evidence to support it, I would like to think somewhere out there was a RatCat viking. Not so much pillaging, since RatCat is generally a peaceful little fellow, but exploring and boldly going where no RatCat had gone before.

Here he stands with his home-made shield and dashing helmet. And of course a great RatCat viking needs a noble steed to carry him around unknown lands:

I wonder what wondrous adventures these two had together during the Viking Age...We can only imagine.

I hope you enjoyed the RatCat Viking and his moose.

Until next time!

Introducing: Count Slugula

As you may or may not have noticed: I've changed the look of this blog a few days ago. I realized that one of the characters that is part of the new look hasn't actually been featured yet. He has been mentioned in Lucy von Fledermaus' introduction though. I am talking about no-one other but Count Slugula:

He's a grumpy, presumably old, vampire slug that lives in Lucy von Fledermaus's castle. You might wonder "If he's a slug, why does he have a shell? I thought only snails had shells?". You are quite right and Count Slugula didn't always have it. The story behind the shell will, however, not be revealed in this post but will have to wait for another time. For now just say hello to Count Slugula and don't be offended if he ignores you.

What do you think about little Slugula? Too grumpy? Super adorable? Dashing?

Until next time!

RatCat Hospital

Say hello to the staff and patients at RatCat Hospital:

Here we have the RatCat doctor. He's a very good doctor. He has a stethoscope and everything! Not to mention his amazing bedside manners.

A hospital also needs surgeons and the RatCat hospital has a great one! He does it all. Heart, brain, eye balls, you name it he'll operate on it! He also has the best plastic surgery skills. Whiskers implant anyone?

Of course a hospital is all about the patients. Luckily the RatCat hospital doesn't get too many, but these two weren't very lucky:

This poor guy has some sort of disease. I'm not sure what it is, but he doesn't look too happy about it.

This one doesn't look so good either. Poor thing broke his tail.

Finally we have the RatCat nurse. I've actually already posted this one before, but I didn't use markers back then so I thought it would be fun to compare:

That was it for our tour of the RatCat hospital staff and patients. I hope you had fun. Comments and twitter/facebook/whatever likes and shares are always very much welcome and appreciated! Spread the RatCat spirit (on a cracker if you like but I doubt it'd taste good...so just share on the internet please!).

Until next time!

Change is coming...

...to the activity on this blog! When I first started this blog my goal was to post something at least once a month. It's safe to say that didn't happen. Even though I haven't been drawing a lot, I have a LOT of ideas for drawings and stories. A few weeks ago I started writing down all my ideas for RatCat and friends related drawings. I came to the conclusion that if I made all of those drawings and posted one once a week on this blog, I would have enough for a few years. So, I've been working on a whole bunch of drawings so I have something of a buffer of drawings to post on this blog. My goal now is to post something every week. Another goal is to make this blog bigger, more known, just more active, so one day RatCat can take over the world. So if you like it please share (on Facebook, twitter, whatever!).

To keep you happy for now (hopefully), here's RC and a kitty:

Introducing: Big Fat Friendly Butterfly

This little big guy has been a doodle for too long. Here is the Big Fat Friendly Butterfly a.k.a. the BFFB:

Taking a walk.

Fluttering around.

Taking a nap.
Having a sip of sugar water.
