Shamisen

The shamisen is a Japanese musical instrument that finds its origin in a Chinese instrument. Shamisen means "three strings" and you guessed right, the shamisen does in fact have three strings (the name would be pretty silly if it didn't)! It's played using a plectrum called bachi (the kitten obviously forgot his...).

Well, that's about as far as my knowledgde on the shamisen goes, so until tomorrow! =^o,,o^=

Midori no Hi

Since 2007 May 4th has been "Midori no Hi" in Japan (before that it was on April the 29th). Midori no Hi means 'day of green' or, if you will, greenery day. It's one of those Golden week holidays. So on this day be sure to appreciate the nature around you, unless nature comes into your house in the form of a spider. In that case, feel free to escort nature to some place else.

Until tomorrow! =^o,,o^=

Change is coming...

...to the activity on this blog! When I first started this blog my goal was to post something at least once a month. It's safe to say that didn't happen. Even though I haven't been drawing a lot, I have a LOT of ideas for drawings and stories. A few weeks ago I started writing down all my ideas for RatCat and friends related drawings. I came to the conclusion that if I made all of those drawings and posted one once a week on this blog, I would have enough for a few years. So, I've been working on a whole bunch of drawings so I have something of a buffer of drawings to post on this blog. My goal now is to post something every week. Another goal is to make this blog bigger, more known, just more active, so one day RatCat can take over the world. So if you like it please share (on Facebook, twitter, whatever!).

To keep you happy for now (hopefully), here's RC and a kitty:

RatCat and the bag, part 2

Ok, so it's been a while since I posted "RatCat and the bag, part 1". Since then I've gotten promarkers and this 2nd part has been made with them. For those who didn't see part 1 (and don't feel like going back to that post): basically RatCat was chillin' in his alley when a mysterious moving bag was dropped on/thrown at his head. Here's part 2!

After removing the rope from the bag a blue head belonging to a weird looking kitten popped out of the bag.
RatCat was unsure what to think of these creatures that were just dropped in his alley.
More and more colorful kittens came out of the bag, taking an interest in RatCat.
RatCat felt warm and fuzzy inside being surrounded by the litter of colorful kittens and was happy they were dropped on his head (although he would have preferred it if they had arrived in a different manner, lol).

The mysterious bag turned out the beginning of the friendship between RatCat and the colorful litter of kittens, who had not actually been featured on this blog before but I have drawn them a few times before. For instance:

The kittens were most likely dumped from a shady laboratory above RatCat's alley. I have the feeling they won't be the last creatures to be thrown out of there...

Tomorrow is Halloween and I'll post my Halloween drawing featuring RatCat, the Fairy Princess Mammoth and Lucy von Fledermaus all ready to go Trick or Treating. :)
