Dress up time: Fairy Princess Mammoth

It's dress up time here at RatCat & Friends! Everybody's dressing up like the Fairy Princess Mammoth. Some like dressing up more than others do...

RatCat and the Big Fat Friendly Butterfly are always up for a costume party. The basics for the FPM look are a pink tutu, pink wings, and a tiara or crown. The BFFB also got some mammoth tusks.

Minion likes dressing up. 

  

Evil Space RatCat didn't want to wear a tutu, but he made a cool belt buckle. Not sure if he's looking bad-ass or just p*ssed off.

Count Slugula isn't too into this, I think...

Colorful kittens like to dress up. Well, at least some of them do. This chubby one certainly does.

While you might not know it from the look on her face, Lucy actually really enjoys dressing up.

Karaoke

Karaoke is a compound of the Japanese Kara, meaning empty (same as in Karate, remember), and the abbreviation of okesutora or orchestra. In Japan Karaoke isn't usually done in a bar where you sing in front of everybody who happens to be in the bar, but in a "karaoke box". It's a smaller room that you sing karaoke in either with your friends or alone (if you want) without any other people. Sometimes you get small musical instrument such as tambourines and maracas.

I wonder what song RatCat's singing...or what he sounds like. He usually doesn't talk.

Fairy Princess Mammoth is a little too shy to sing, but he likes to play the tambourine.

Lucy is also a little shy, but she's happy to hold the microphone for Count Slugula.

Sakura

Sakura means cherry blossom and is also a Japanese girls name. When the cherry blossoms bloom it's time to go "flower viewing" (ohanami). To go flower viewing basically means to sit below the trees and eat and drink with your friends as you are surrounded by the beautiful blossoms everywhere.

Lucy's short guide to blood types in Japan

As you may have noticed, Lucy von Fledermaus is a vampire and as a vampire has quite some knowlegde of blood: "In Japan (and some other asian countries) one's blood type is thought to relate to such things as personality and compatibility with others, similar to how astrological signs are regarded in certain other countries. For instance,  type A is thought to be creative,  patient, reserved,  and stubborn. Women's magazines might write about blood type compatibility with a (potential) partner,  and magazines and news papers have blood horoscopes. It's quite uncommon to be unaware of your blood type and profiles for celebraties and even anime and game characters often list the blood type."

Ninja

Not much to say about Ninjas really. They're fast, secretive, and they like to wear black.

I'm not sure how fast he is, but he does have a sword so...don't mess with him!

The BFFB* is quite happy with his ninja star. He'd never use it to hurt someone though. He probably wouldn't be a great ninja...

Lucy is ready for some silent ninja action.

Japan Month is here!

Yes, that's right this month (this whole month) will be Japan month! The goal is to post something Japan related on here every day for the entire month of May.

We're starting this month of Japanesenessessess (there's going to be so much stuff, just one "ness" isn't enough!) off with something I think everybody knows and a lot of people love: sushi.

RatCat decided to dress up as sushi. In case you don't know your sushi very well, he's an ebi (shrimp) nigiri.

I'm not sure whether or not it's a coincidence, but right after RatCat dressed up as a sushi Evil Space RatCat wanted to dress up as a sushi chef...

Finally, I have to apologize for Lucy who seems to have forgotten her manners and, without the use of chopsticks, is just stuffing her face with endless amounts of sushi. To be fair, I'm not sure she's able to hold chopsticks.

Ancient Egypt week begins! Pyramid fashion.

When you think (ancient) Egypt, you also think pyramids , right? It wouldn't be very interesting if I just drew a pyramid, so here are RatCat and Lucy showing some pyramid inspired fashion instead!

Here we have RatCat sporting some very effective sun glasses to protect his eyes from the Egyptian sun. You might walk into something though, so watch out!

Next we have Lucy von Fledermaus in a fashionable pyramid poncho.

Finally, RatCat wants to show you his pyramid ears! Not everybody has the ears for them, but RatCat sure does.

Evil Space RatCat is a scientist, he's an alien, and he has pointy ears. So I figured he should dress up as Spock. I'm not sure how he feels about it, but I think he likes Spock.

Count Slugula looks pretty pleased he got to wear a captain's uniform.
 









 He may not be wearing a red shirt, but I'm not sure he'll be totally ok...
